With #BaldursGate3 and #KingdomComeDeliverance2 out, #TheElderScrolls6 will have a uphill battle.
I'm not against Bethesda, but given their track record (especially #Starfield), I do not have hopes for a medieval-fantasy setting to be above 7/10. Note they're backed by Microsoft.
I hope I'm wrong, but all roads leads to #CreationEngine2.
It grinds my gears when people believe you can easily switch game engines.
There are three problems when you switch, like from #CreationEngine2 to #UnrealEngine5.
1. Goodbye toolchain. Learn (or create!) the new tools.
2. Goodbye assets. Export them to compatible formats.
3. Goodbye modules. If it doesn't exist, you'll have to create it.
Sometimes, sticking to what you know makes you deliver faster, even if there are compromises like on #Starfield.
Well, the moment they announced it would run #CreationEngine its fate was set in stone.
I've lost hope for #TheElderScrollsVI being a technologically modern game. I hope #Bethesda writing team bring their A-game otherwise I can see having the same lukewarm reception as #Starfield.
