Sundry Sunday: Oh no! It’s the Lemmings 2 Music Video!
You know, it's a effort sometimes to keep up this weekly game culture section. Youtube's algorithm sucks unless you have an account you use for one purpose and none other, for it's always trying to send you things related to the very last thing you wa

On Fri we had the (yearly) curry night of ex- computer games people. First time I was able to turn up in ages. Thirty years since we made games, and some of us still do! This is where Lemmings, GTA and Hired Guns came from.

A dozen middle aged guys, sitting at a table in a restaurant facing the camera and grinning for it.

“35 Years Ago - DMA Moved Into Its First Office - The Scottish Games Network

scottishgames.net/2024/08/02/3

> On August 1st 1989 DMA Design, the Dundee studio behind Lemmings & Grand Theft Auto moved into its first ever office in Dundee's Nethergate.”

Well, 35 years ago yesterday :)

Tiny-looking brightly coloured building sandwiched in between two buildings. It has a bay window and pointed roof. To the left is the entrance to a pub and on the right is a block of flats.

Hey, my local paper has mentioned me! The Courier has an article asking about the creators of asking "Where are they now?"

I'm made to seem more important than I really was, so I'm not going to quibble about the small inaccuracies TOO much. 😁

@pasimako Love #Lemmings, but it’s the #Commodore Amiga original for me. (Did you know you could play split-screened with someone else using a second mouse on #Amiga and #AtariST?)

Here’s a great origin story from #DMADesign programmer @mdf200: javalemmings.com/DMA/Lem_1.htm

Oooooo... my old #HiredGuuns may viewer I did for Scott back at #DMADesign

Apparently doesn't work on newer #Amiga's, but I do still have the source kicking around. I'll see if I can package it up and upload it somewhere.

I quite fancy loading in HG levels and making them "proper" 3D.... that could be fun.

It still works! Admittedly been a year since I last had it on. Bought in 1992 as a "developer" machine for a developer price, back when I worked at

I knew I'd seen that picture before, and dug this out of my archives. It was taken for the Courier 29 May 1997, on the occasion of DMA's flotation.

"That has to be good news for staff..."

Oh, and here's one of DC Thomson's images from in the mid nineties. That's me at the front on the left. Next to the robotic Lemming on a tricycle we'd had made.

Office with people cheering. A robotic Lemming is in the middle.
