Our goal is to establish a diverse, inclusive, self-sustaining community of Data Stewards and to create a model for data steward support systems within research intensive institutions, thereby clarifying their role and integration within the research data lifecycle.
Through CaSDar, we will foster recognition of Data Stewards' contributions to the research lifecycle.
Just like weekends restore balance and give us time to tidy up, rest, and plan, data stewards bring structure and sustainability to the data ecosystem. They ensure data is well-documented, properly formatted, ethically managed, and ready for reuse, so that when the next “Monday” (or dataset) arrives, everything is in place.
Without weekends, burnout creeps in. Without data stewards, data chaos takes over. ✌️
🔴 By working on meaningful, relevant challenges, learners are better prepared for the demands of academic research, industry roles, or further study.
By empowering Data Stewards, we will create a more efficient, effective, and inclusive research ecosystem. Through collaboration and knowledge sharing, Data Stewards will overcome challenges, drive innovation, and ensure the long-term value of research data.
CaSDaR will be a catalyst for change, driving the adoption of best practices in data management and ensuring that research data is a valuable asset for generations to come.
CaSDaR will leverage the approaches and processes surrounding community coordination, career development, recognition, and reward that were achieved in fostering the 'Research Software Engineering movement’ over the last decade.
Using this framework, Digital RTP funding, coupled with CaSDaR’s approach will greatly accelerate the rate of elevation for Data Steward positions and recognition. 🚀

4TU Research Data joined the NLRN as stakeholder member. We are happy to welcome the data repository of the 4 Technical Universities #TUDelft, @TUEindhoven #UniversityTwente and #WageningenUniversity to our network.
Stakeholder members are organisations that are relevant for enhancing the adoption of #reproducibleWorkflows but don't conduct research themselves. These include #dataRepositories, #research funding bodies or network organisations of #dataStewards.
Talking with my colleagues passionate about sharing their work gives me energy. I'm grateful to be in a role who can help people to share more 🪴

#DataStewards spielen eine wichtige Rolle im #Forschungsdatenmanagement (FDM), da sie u. a. Ansprechpersonen für Forschende und Studierende agieren und zur Verwaltung und Nutzung von Forschungsdaten beraten.
Am 10. April fand das Kick-Off-Event der Landesinitiative Forschungsdatenmanagement Niedersachsen statt, bei dem das Joint Lab der #HochschuleHannover und der #TIB das Konzept des künftig stattfindenden Data-Steward-Stammtischs vorstellte.
