Dear practitioners in statistics and data scientists:

In writing a data file, are there any *standard* ways, symbols, or notation, to indicate that some ordinal or continuous values of some datapoints are right- or left-censored?

I ask this specifically to decide on which datafile-formatting conventions to adopt for files that have to be fed into a software package for data analysis. I could of course choose any convention I fancy, but would like to use something standard or very common.

Very grateful to anyone who share their knowledge about standard uses – as well as references!
