Interested in how Debian LTS works and what’s ahead?

The recorded BoF session from #DebConf25 is now online!

The session had engaging discussions on having point-update “releases” for LTS with Debusine, packaging security updates for firmware-nonfree, ca-certificates, and work towards compliance with new regulations like the #CRA.

@jpmens Somewhere there is a video of @juliank’s talk at #debconf25 with new features in Debian 13 and some for later. I also like where apt is going regarding its UI/UX.

It happened again

(any reference to events witnessed during #Debconf25 are not really coincidental)

@cjwatson from #Freexian gave a great talk at #DebConf25:
“Using Debusine to pre-test your unstable uploads”
debconf25.debconf.org/talks/29

Learn what Debusine is, why we built it, and how you can use the features we have built to do QA work in Debian right now, including dput-ng integration, and scaling into clouds. Understand how Debusine runs builds & reverse-dependency tests before your package hits the archive — ideal for safer uploads and smoother transitions to Testing.

@sre4ever Despite living in France and having software in Debian, I was excluded from attending by the lack of a stronger mask policy.

I have permanent damage to my brain and body from a Covid infection in 2020 (#LongCovid)

One of the speakers at #debconf25 was just recovering from a Covid infection they caught at an *outdoor* event elsewhere.

Covid moves like smoke. Unless you are confident that you wouldn't smell a cigarette at that distance, a well fitted N95/FFP2 is required. 😷

Group photo of the Java/JVM BoF at #DebConf25: the phone stubbornly refused to focus on the background so we end up with an unintentionally privacy-preserving picture.

At DebConf25, during the New Contributors Onboarding Sprint by Tássia Camões Araújo, Tiago Bortoletto Vaz and Praveen Arimbrathodiyil no less than five people did the first upload of their work to Debian. Congratulations to Yunseong Kim (node-cryptiles), Michelle Jin (node-address), Giyeon Bang (node-parse-ms), Krista Fong (ruby-bunny) and Giacomo Paviano (ruby-cutest)! #debconf25 #dc25-onboarding #debian https://micronews.debian.org/2025/1753689681.html
