Imagining the rails of tomorrow, yesterday. 🚂✨ This stunning 1944 illustration, titled the "Super Train of Tomorrow," showcases a mid-century vision of a future powered by atomic energy. #Atompunk #RetroFuturism #ConceptArt #AtomicTrain #MidCenturyModern #WhatCouldHaveBeen #DesignHistory

Question: does the "minimalism" stereotypically attributed to Northern and Central Europe have any connections to Protestantism? I'm specifically thinking of the latter's aniconic/iconoclastic tendencies.

"Délaissant l’héritage du design d’interaction, orienté vers la recherche d’une adéquation entre forme et fonction, les systèmes de design viennent repositionner le design numérique dans la lignée des chartes graphiques, traitant les artefacts numériques comme des supports de l’identité visuelle de marque."

Future value in a Design History

Reading Benjy Stanton’s notes on working in the open benjystanton.co.uk/blog/govcam reminded me of design histories so now rewatching Paul Robert Lloyd’s UX London’s talk vimeo.com/841887944. I’m thinking this might be a potential solution for a challenge in my team. benjamin.parry.is/collecting/t

In 1971, a design student named Carolyn Davidson created the Nike Swoosh — paid just $35 for a logo that became a global symbol of speed and victory.

Years later, Nike thanked her with a gold ring and 500 shares of stock — now worth millions.

Small ideas. Big impact. 💡

Friends~ I have a hopefully small request. We are very soon after the launch of Meggs' 7ed. and understand a lotta folks haven't had a chance to dive into the book. That said, if you have early impressions and/or fully formed opinions (good, bad, or indifferent) we'd be grateful if you would submit a review to Amazon. Thank you!

Among other design and structural updates in the 7th edition, captions and figures are now presented differently. With over 1,000 figures, images are essential to enriching the text. To connect and for better reference, a small version of each image is shown on the same spread as it is mentioned in the text. For better clarity, new 'gallery' pages feature larger images that combine figures of note. Gallery pages are moments to pause, look closely, and make comparisons. #mhogd7ed #designhistory

After 5.5 and a half years of work, tomorrow we'll finally see and hold the sum of countless conversations, hours of looking / reading / writing, days of designing, and years of working with and redefining purpose. It will be thrilling and a fair amount terrifying to finally page through Meggs' History of Graphic Design, 7ed. Looking forward to introducing you all to what we've made soon. #mhogd7ed #graphicdesign #graphicdesignhistory #designhistory #meggs

Did you know that the unique texture of paper was first developed in ancient China around 105 AD? Early Chinese papermakers used mulberry bark, hemp waste, and old rags, creating a distinctive texture that still influences the paper we use today. This historical innovation was crucial for the spread of ideas across the world.

Sixty years ago today, Le Corbusier left us, but his designs remain timeless. From the iconic LC4 lounge to a visionary people’s car and bold Purist painting, his creativity continues to inspire generations of designers.

The man behind the vision. From paintings to buildings, cars to furniture, Le Corbusier designed for life, not for trends.

Bauhaus has been inspiring creativity and design since 1919. Minimalism, geometry, and timeless style, still shaping the modern world today. It will shape Domovago as well.

Bauhaus-inspired graphic with geometric lettering spelling ‘Bauhaus’, a large circle, and the text ‘Inspiring since 1919’ in green and brown tones.
