At FOSDEM 2025 the Geospatial devroom only had half a day, and we still ended up with a packed room and a queue down the corridor.

In 2026 we have the whole of Saturday to ourselves, so if you have something geo-flavoured to share, whether it is maps, data, tools, clever hacks, fieldwork tech, city projects, OSM magic, climate work or anything else, now is the moment to submit a proposal.

At the last two #FOSDEM events, the community of #OpenSource #Policy specialists has organised a well-attended and influential #DevRoom aimed at bringing developers and legislators together to understand and respect each other.

I'm pleased to say that we have been invited back for 2026 and will run a full day on February 1. The Call for Participation is now live:

The devroom doesn't seem to be that much cloud native after all, but more of a bridge between MySQL and PostgreSQL communities.

This looks interesting from an open source DBA managing a fleet of half MySQL and half PostgreSQL instances.

I haven't given up on the idea yet of trying to propose a music-related #devroom at the next #fosdem in 2026. I'm wondering what name could be used, though? Just "Music production" may be limiting, as that would cover, e.g., projects like Ardour or DrumGizmo, but not the likes of Faircamp, which helps musicians self-host their work. Finding the right scope (and abstract) for such a devroom might be challenging, but not impossible IMO. Any feedback/idea?

i survived (again). #fosdem gave me some hope for society again. besides #learning an uncountable amount of things. it started right away meeting @_elena finally #irl , a very crowded #mastodon stand with an amazing team behind the desk. ran into @Sascha directly after. thanks to @evan to organise the amazing #devroom for the #socialweb

i attended as many sessions as i was able to ;) from #UN #IDG to @matrix . where i was even invited to have an hour at their stand.

we got also some interest for @haufegroup and also the @acccgn by @micheal who had also his first #fosdem #fosdem25 :blobcatgiggle:

so it ended like always with a wonderful and professional coreo of the #FosdemDance ;)
