This is getting silly. I now have four Digitrax BXPA1 reverse modules. The first two I bought (on the left) have both developed an identical fault, the LocoNet interface has died. I’m hoping it’s a batch fault that has evaded the other two I now possess, the second of which has just been installed over lunchtime.

Plan is to stick the faulty ones in the post for repair - they have to go to Florida for that - and then sell them on once returned. If neither of the other two develop a fault in the meantime (I really hope I’m not foreshadowing, here…)

#Digitrax uses memory locations, called slots, to manage locomotive addresses. Clearing these slots can often solve issues.

Having issues with intermittent operation of a multifunction decoder? 😩

The cause may not be obvious: RailCom.

Older decoders manufactured prior to the introduction of RailCom may experience issues when the RailCom cut out is active. Recent command stations and boosters may have RailCom active by default.

It is critical that the type of RJ connectors match the type of wire it will be crimped on to. Stranded wire needs a plug meant for stranded wire.

Plus a good set of crimpers. Cheap ones often don't work well.

Both the storage loops and the reverse loop will have DCC auto-reversers installed and I’m using #Digitrax hardware fit that and for occupancy detection so that I can automate the main line. I’ve a Digitrax controller.

I may have just snapped up a quantity of #Digitrax kit on eBay. Yes I’ve saved a lot of money. No I wouldn’t have been awake to buy it if my hotel room had aircon.

In my defence I’m sure it would have disappeared very quickly if I’d not taken action tonight. This stuff is hard to find in stock in the UK at any price so five modules second hand, all in full working order at about 65% of list is not to be sniffed at. #ModelRailway

#LocoNet should not be arranged into a loop, as it is very important to make sure the RAIL SYNC signals are connected correctly and in sync. Otherwise they will cancel out. For this reason #Digitrax does not recommend wiring LocoNet in a loop.
