The #dodo #Raphus #cucullatus (#Columbidae), lived on #Mauritius and was discovered during a Dutch expedition in 1598. This #flightless, ground-nesting #bird #diedout by 1690 due to introduced #predators, as it lacked #defensivebehavior. A research project aims to #recreate it based on its and the #genome of its closest living relative. D. Angst et al. (2017) found #ecological aspects from #bonehistology studies.

Einen schönen 2.Advent in die Runde!

Zum Nikolaus habe ich zwei weitere vorher- nachher- Bilder von der #ChristuskircheDudweiler .

Neben den vielen kleineren Vierungen haben wir fünf größere eingebaut. Die beiden im Maßwerk habe ich euch schon gezeigt. Zwei weitere waren im selben Fenster weiter unten im Mittelgewände.

vorher; Im Mittelgewände des 2. Fensters im südlichen Teil des Querschiffs der Kirche waren ausgerechnet die beiden längsten Stücke stark im Lager beschädigt. Bei der letzten Restaurierung - wahrscheinlich in den 80er/90er Jahren - hat man mit der sogenannten Sandsteinersatzmasse "Minerus" die Schadstelle überspachtelt. Wir konnten diesmal mit passenden Vierungsstücken eine richtige Reparatur herstellen. die Haupt-Arbeit dabei sieht man gar nicht mehr: die Vierungen sind nicht auf Gärung geschnitten, sondern steingerecht als sogenannte "Bischofsmützen" - senkrecht zur Profilfläche. Wir haben davon auch Fotos gemacht, auf die habe ich aber noch keinen Zugriff.das Mittelgewänder ist jetzt wieder heil! Von Außen sieht das alles sehr unspektakulär aus. so richtig sieht man den Unterschied zu den Spachtelstellen erst in 30 bis 50 Jahren. die Spachtelstellen müssen dann eventuell wieder ausgetauscht werden. die Vierungen sind dann noch wie neu. Ihre Haltbarkeit ist voraussichtlich so lange wie der Stein drum herum.
