I switched from Bing to DuckDuckGo when Bing added non-configurable notification icons to their home page. Bing search always did what I needed, and I didn't actually want to change a tool I used many times each day, but this was enough to drive me away forever.
If you're building a product that's used by neurodiverse users (and you are, even if you don't acknowledge it) it's important to provide an uncluttered non-noisy UX - or at least the option to configure one.
In related news, today I am a happy Edge user and haven't used any other browser since Microsoft started building Edge on Chromium.
