ETS service was extended from Ipoh to Butterworth and Butterworth to Padang Besar on 10 July 2015. On 10 October 2015, ETS service was extended from KL Sentral to Gemas (restoring the connection to Seremban).

Construction is currently ongoing for track upgrade (electrified double track project / ) between Gemas and JB Sentral to allow ETS go up to Johor Bahru, the city at the border of Malaysia-Singapore.

Upon completion, you can use ETS from end to end on west coast peninsular Malaysia.
