El Teide looking beautiful in the sunshine earlier this month. It’s ~35 years since my Dad & I made it to the summit (via cable car). I didn’t book in time to get the necessary permits this time, so I didn’t get to relive the experience exactly, but walked along a couple of nearby paths. I’d forgotten how serene and silent it is up there - and how thin the air is, walking 2km with a bit of an incline and I was exploring every corner of my lungs! 🫁 #Tenerife #ElTeide #holidays #travel #mountains

We scaled the highest point in Spain yesterday. Well ok we had some help: our rental car took us to 2356m and a cable car brought us further up to 3555m. Just walking around near the peak exhausted me: it was cold, the air was thin, the ground was rocky, the winds were strong, I was out of shape and complained every step of the way but thoroughly enjoyed myself :P
