(Self-hosting seems more complex than installing Linux Mint which is my self-imposed limit on voluntary computing.)

Im trying to somewhat keep up with how Switzerland's new laws might pan out. I have already been looking toward other countries that might be a better jurisdiction re: privacy friendly places to have my domain, and host website/email

Looking somewhere away from the 14 eyes:
- United States
- United Kingdom
- Canada
- Australia
- New Zealand
- The Netherlands
- France
- Denmark
- Norway
- Belgium
- Italy
- Germany
- Spain
- Sweden
and now Switzerland is on this "no" list.

I see some companies like 1984.is where they are marketed as a place that activists could use for safe hosting. Someone vouching for these services would give me more confidence on whether that privacy thing is true or not.

[please boost if your followers are geeky] I'd like some #FediVice (is that a thing? It's a thing now) - my domain hosing is by Ionos and they keep raising prices. All I really need is two domains with wildcard email forwarding ( anything @mydomain.com gets forwarded to my actual address). Hosting a small blog or forwarding subdomains is a bonus but not worth paying much more for.
Inexpensive is priority, if you are using a service you'd recommend please let me know. #domainhosting #emailhosting

Out of curiosity I just contacted @fastmail to see if they hosted my email in Australia. Turns out they don't, its all US-based.

I knew they had offices there but this is something else, calling them an Australian business isn't really true. Honestly I'm pretty disappointed and not sure what to do next.

I get that places still host in the US but I was working to de-Google myself and ultimately reduce my reliance on it, and this just kinda sucks.

I think I mentioned it before, but never took any action.

I have a .es domain running emails for a couple of family members that I want to transfer to their ownership and management.

It’s registered through Namecheap at the moment and I want to set them up their own email accounts somewhere (currently they use my Dreamhost hosting) - any recommendations for something fairly easy? They probably need 2 inboxes, one or two aliases and about 5Gb total space. #email #emailhosting

Mein hosting provider #DomainFactory zieht die E-Mail Konten auf #MS365 um. Zum einen wird es für noch dadurch erheblich teurer, zum anderen ist es #Microsoft.

Any here try the self-hosted forwardemail.net? A possible setup instead of mail-in-a-box and iRedMail? As I have several family members that have their email with me, I need quality/secure dashboard access to lots of the email and spam tools. Most offerings are lacking in this area.

I'm specifically looking for a Canadian host that has something like Dreamhost's "Shared Unlimited" plan.

The Canadian hosts I've found still seem to think that storage is expensive and email addresses are rare resources to be doled out one at a time.

I don't even have crazy needs; my website is entirely static, low traffic, and not huge (under 30MB total), and we've got probably 5GB-ish of email spread over 3 accounts. 🤷
