FairMail, the email app I use on my Android, makes it hard to check the true originating addresses of emails, and the URLs that included links are pointing to. At least using default settings. The problem is, if we can't see these things at a glance, we're much more likely to fall for phishing scams.

I don't mean to pick on FairMail, this is pretty standard email UX these days. Which is probably at least one reason why email is such a common vectors for scams.

I wonder how is it possible that since #K9Mail joined #Mozilla, they cannot handle #IMAP folders correctly anymore.

As the geek-friendly PR dept of #Google, Mozilla enshittify whatever they touch.

I guess it's time to move to #FairMail or something.

I need proper IMAP and #GPG support.
#OpenKeychain integration is fine.

Any other suggestion?

Für alle, die auch suchen: #FairMail direkt von GitHub scheint zu funktionieren.
Beim Einrichten des Postfachs aber nicht das erste "Outlook(OAuth)" nutzen, sonder das, bei dem auch Hotmail dabei steht. (Obwohl ich business accounts hinzufügen will).
Auch etwas ungewöhnlich: nach dem einrichten oben links auf die 3 Striche klicken und "Einstellungen schließen" tippen um zu den Postfächern zu kommen.

De #thunderbird app vond ik wat minder prettig werken op mijn mobiele telefoon. Ik heb er nu de #FairMail applicatie op gezet. Die vind ik een stuk prettiger werken.

It was the only thing i was missing. I am quite happy at having opened a Posteo mail account. I am a bit stressed these days, but at some point I will describe it a bit more.

#TIL When you set in #FairMail a Spam folder in the account settings then filtering starts immediately.

I no longer knew that I had changed this setting. So at first I looked on the server to find out which damn rule was sorting out some mails. Then I checked all used mail clients. FairMail on the #Android phone was the last client … 🤯

@amerey I use the combination of FairMail on Android and Thunderbird on Desktop.
With DavX5 on Android, I am Syncing against my Nextcloud. So both connect to this and everything is save and synced. #Thunderbird #Fairmail #DavX5

While browsing through the settings of #Fairmail, I found the OpenAI-integration. And as #ollama implements the API of OpenAI, I built ollama in #termux and pulled the model tinyllama.

Now my phone can summarize e-mails for me locally. This is totally cool. And useless in the real world :-)
