Disappointing that all we get is this instead of a revival of MGO. Even a lazy reskin of the classic modes would have been fine with some QOL updates. I was hoping old timers like me who had MGS3 Subsistence when it came out, but lacked decent broadband internet and/or the broadband modem adapter for the PS2, could finally play those modes online with a larger base.

Oh, well. At least there is still https://mgo2pc.com/portal/. Which is now the new generation of players' roadblock to playing the classic online modes. They'll need a fat PS2, the broadband adapter, the ability to get the PS2 online and be able to co-ordinate matches with a small group online. :blobcatsad:

Did a #foxhunt today for the first time in nearly 20 years. Did a lot of driving around the city trying to get a good triangulation from my bearings, but as you can see, things were all over the place! 😜 Definitely need some more practice.

I need a reasonably clean 4MHz oscillator for a #hamradio #foxhunt offset attenuator and decided to build one based on a J310 J-FET transistor.

The output on the Drain is quite clean, but can’t be loaded much, so a I added a simple buffer based on BC547B 🙂

It’s all pretty standard circuitry, and you can find all kinds of variants out there, but it’s still fun to see it spring to life 😃

My old fox hunt receiver, original design by #OZ1FSM, has survived a couple of relocations, but the batteries had leaked and it looked like a complete loss, unfortunately.

A couple hours of careful cleaning did the trick however, and now it’s back, alive and well with new battery holders and a couple of Lithium’s 😃

My first #HB9CV #antenna, believe it or not, made from 5mm brake lines and a foot of 15mm copper pipe 🙂

I need it for a 70cm radio #foxhunt event in a couple days - looked different places for design guidelines, some of them came up with quite different results 🤷🏼‍♂️🤨

Decided to just have go at it, based on a combination of what I could find in the legendary #Rothammel antenna book and some online sources and it turned out quite well 😃

Resonance is a bit low, 431MHz, but it’ll do fine as a direction finding device: what I really want is the characteristic kidney shaped radiation pattern, allowing me to turn the antenna backwards, looking for a minimum in the received signal.

Funny to see how the #smithchart impedance plot has a distinct turn at the resonance frequency 🤓
