read a chapter
it was something about
religious leaders
who had turned a house of prayer
into a den of thieves

"Yes, that there is. A very nice void."
"Did I not instruct you to avoid the void?"
"The void was unavoidable."

"would you work for the oppressors?"

instead of saying
"never, until my last breath"
"if they threaten my family, sure"

didn't want to give the satisfaction
of condescending
to my naivety

my kids got
their yellow belts

soon it will get scary
if they get angry

hoping to stage
some bouts at home
and play the referee

the bait and switch
was neither planned
nor was it intentional

for your continued patronage

may you continue
to be entertained

if it ever becomes a bother
deflect my voice
to the void
and be
a happy traveler

seems like a fixation
when it's unorganically inserted
into the conversation

when my daughter was born
the first thing I said to her
was "welcome"

not sure
if that was a bit too much
sugarcoating

good people
on every side
nursing some
pet hates
and
truly horrific ideas

why should I be expected
to deny what I'm seeing
with my own eyes

it all can't be
a trick question
a mental hurdle
a stumbling block
a purity test

now I understand
why Jesus spoke in parables

make your guy win
make sure
he's your guy

turns out
I have always known
about the concept of a diss track

it amused me to no end
that I could have assigned
Ezekiel 25:17
as the memory verse
