Does anyone in my circle here have experience with LineageOS, /e/OS, or other open source mobile operating systems?

I've been looking at switching to /e/OS, because I don't trust Google in the slightest; and while LineageOS looks to be an improvement, it seems to still rely on Google Play, which I would also like to remove.

Recommendations, thoughts, links to read welcome.

I basically only use my phone for Signal, Discord, SMS and as a camera. I do not care about navigation / anything fancier than a web browser.

Now that Google has deleted my paid Developer Account (for supposedly "not publishing app updates frequently enough"), I am down to two options of distributing Android app:

• Publish APK file in Releases page of code repository on self-hosted @forgejo instance;
• Submit app afterwards to @fdroidorg and hope it will be included.

Will do both when app is ready to hit the screens. It's going to be useless but fun Bouncing Logo application for :android: - pure web app, open source, only using Android tools limited to packaging it as APK :blobcatnerd:

Chrome now seems to force-change http:// URLs to https:// URLs.

As in, you paste a http:// URL into the address bar, and Chrome silently switches it to https://, and then complains the site is down.

No, this is not a HTTP redirect and no, HSTS is not involved. I tested this on a site that only has HTTP available.

This is bullshit. I tend to defend some measures like that, but this is taking it too far, making it seem like something that works – is not working.
