#GameLocalization

The PC port of Goodboy Galaxy is now out on Steam in Arabic 🐶

While AAA companies struggle with RTL implementation basics, you have absolute madmen like @MontassarGhanmi who implement:

- BiDirectional text
- in a GameBoy Advance game
- For a single screen
- Just for the fun of it

This level of dedication to the craft is why I LOVE working with Arabic.

Amazing work as always. Keep setting the standard!👏

Today's lesson learned: When working on a new game localization's glossary, make sure you get paid in hours spent, not words translated. Especially when researching terms means collating a website, an excel file *and* a netflix series.

Something new every day: When I download the files from the server to work on them, they get downloaded with a different, shorter name. Who thought that was a good idea, #phrase?

I really like dev studios who can provide a tool for reading through all dialogue in a very text-heavy game.
Now if they could maybe learn not to call three iterations of this tool "V 1.0" in a row...?

Exploring the dynamic field of with the insights of Dr. Carme Mangiron. Her work illuminates how games resonate across cultures, enriching narratives through localization strategies that go beyond translation.

One more way in which the #localization industry in general and #gameLocalization in particular is broken:
I'm currently proofreading several translators on a project that consists of lots of dialogue on the one hand and lots of highly mechanical and precise ability descriptions with harsh character limits on the other.
By now, I know which translators can deal with the latter, but since the ability descriptions have a lower word count while being slower to translate, it would be unfair to assign them only to the ones who are best at dealing with them because it would mean their competency gets rewarded with a pay cut.

Fellow translators from Italian, check this!

An interesting and challenging collaborative #LocJAM where the source language is Italian.
Follow @aran for future updates!

Looking forward to the next more traditional (but with big ideas) Spring LocJAM, and hope I will be able to participate in it 🤯

I'm super late but still in time for my first (particular) #PortfolioDay ever 🙃

I'm an English to Italian translator specialized in video game localization 👾

Open to commissions in the #gameloc industry (any #IndieGameDev out there?) and #webcomics field as well!

Let's keep fighting for #TranslatorsInTheCredits 👌

This is a fantastic article by Lucile Danilov on how to get into game localization as a translator. No two paths are the same but it covers a lot of the things you should think about/be aware of when starting out!
