Given that this is a result of roughly 5 hours of work and almost half of that was fighting with software and at least half of the rest was learning things, I'm pretty happy with the result.
Next, I'll try to automate rendering from 8 directions to easily export sprite sheets.
The workflow so far is:
- very simple low poly model in blender
- automatically rig the armature from a downloaded mixamo file
- upload to mixamo to get the animation
So makehuman turned out to be a dead end (too many bugs, not sure if it's my setup of if it's really that broken), which lead me to download the basic mesh from Mixamo and use that as a guide to build a low poly model.
Very much a work in progress (I might even end up redoing the whole things as I learn more) but at least I did get a sprite out of it. Also, even at 64x64 resolution, can't see much detail
Gear Up Einstein. A game for which I have been illustrating characters and most backgrounds, is now available to playtest on Steam and Itch.io.
(I have posted a few of these on here like Queen Elizabeth, Beethoven and Black Beard, in the past)
