Quantum computing is cool and all, but the emergence of quantum resistant cryptography that can be performed on classical computers, in my mind, takes away one of the biggest reasons that a large company or government would want to invest in this technology. Not sure what technology to #hype next if memristors, blockchain, NFTs, LLMs and quantum computers aren't revolutionizing anything.
