Apparently, my lower face looks like my patriarch grandma's face - from nose down, when I remove my immediate #dentures. I'm kinda laughing about it because we looked nothing alike, while she was still alive, otherwise.
I still cannot fucking chew with these #ImmediateDentures. 3 months in.
#Food for my ongoing first dentures recovery journey. I still am unable to chew much of anything with the dentures but try at least once/day - just failing lots at chewing. I'm glad that I can still eat several of my cultural foods - just need to mince things up so I can eat without chewing. I'm no longer scared about losing weight.
I'll be back at denturist again this week, for adjustments on my lower denture.

I'm struggling with trying to learn how to talk again, with my immediate dentures. I keep biting inside of lip, in one area - when trying to speak. My jaw hurts a lot but I'm still avoiding pain meds because of the nausea they cause. My bite & jawline has changed after final extractions & the immediate dentures were put in. I still can't chew much at all with them. I keep trying to practice talking/reading aloud & chewing softer foods.

Day 11. I can't wear my immediate dentures today due to a bone coming out of one gum. It bumps against dentures, causing intense pain. I have another adjustments appointment at denturist for 1:30PM, tomorrow. I'll likely have to also get some adjustments on lower denture too because 2 spots are now rubbing against it & causing those areas to feel like a tight vise grip.
Yesterday, I had homemade chicken noodle soup & chocolate pudding & cup of oolong tea, for breakfast. I ate mashed potatoes & gravy with some steamed, softened broccoli & cauliflower, banana pudding & drank a glass of unsweetened soya milk for lunch. I adapted my Vietnamese bun rieu rice noodles(broken into small, no chew bits) soup for dinner. I had 2 containers of blueberry yogurt & cup of homemade iced lemon tea, with dinner.
Breakfast, today, was steamed rice with salted lime & minced chicken soup, banana pudding & chilled bottle of chocolate Ensure nutritional supplement drink. For lunch, I had more bun rieu rice noodles soup, a bowl of strawberry ice cream for dessert & large glass of honey sweetened, soya milk with ice.
I'm only 0.5lbs away from recovering my lost weight. Making more of our traditional foods & adapting them so I can eat without needing to chew. I don't do well when going without our cultural foods for too long.

Day 8: Adjusting to immediate dentures.
Breakfast:
Soya sauce braised eggplant with plain rice congee.
1 strawberry Ensure nutritional supplement drink.
I'm doing my best to adjust to trying to eat with these dentures. I'm struggling due to lower one being very ill fitting with a gap at back that's too large. It makes me gag often. I hope next adjustments will deal with that issue. Still, am glad to be able to eat some foods & not puke it up.
My gums are healing up pretty good so far. My jaw is still sore & uncomfortable as heck; that will be the case for awhile as my mouth adjusts more to dentures; post-extractions changed my bite.

Day 7: One week after final extractions & immediate dentures put in.
Breakfast & lunch were the exact same.
Bowl of plain congee with preserved bean curd & some dried shredded pork with soya sauce.(pictured below)
Banana & coconut pudding.
1 bottle of chocolate Ensure nutritional supplement drink.
My upper dentures are better fitted after 2nd adjustments yesterday. My lower one is still super loose & bothering me a lot. I'll be back at denturist again next week for more adjustments. No serious pain, just a lot of discomfort as my gums heal & slowly recede. I'm gagging more often because my tongue doesn't like the foreign objects in my mouth. I'll have to go back to dentist when gums are less swollen. There's definitely one exact spot where I know will need additional surgery. It's where a bone spur is going to first emerge & my dentist will need to cut/shave it down flat. I started drooling on myself a bit today. That's due to extra saliva from my mouth trying to get used to the dentures.
I am just super glad that I'm able to eat food & not puke anything up. I'm slowly regaining some lost weight 👍

Day 6:
The nausea returned again in morning. I took 2 Gravol Ginger tablets. I'm going to be so happy when I have no more nausea daily & able to eat without taking Gravol first. I'm trying to remain in good spirits. It's difficult when I don't feel well & am nauseous daily. I can't help but feel upset sometimes...it passes..when the nausea stops.
Day 5, dinner:
2 soft boiled eggs - finely minced.
Broccoli & cauliflower, beef broth congee(no pic, will update later)
Buttered mashed potatoes with gravy.
Orange electrolytes drink (no pic)
Cat nurse is very steadfast in support 💗 Asher knows I'm quite unwell atm & sticking close.

Day 5:
I'm not putting either upper or lower dentures back in for awhile today. May try putting back in, later in afternoon.
Very early this morning, had fresh ginger & honey drinks to calm my hella nauseous tummy. I did try puking but only dry heaved; leaving me feeling dizzy & shaky. I waited for my body to stop shaking. Then, slowly drank a chocolate Ensure nutritional supplement drink - it stayed down👍 I slept more.
Got up again, few minutes ago. I had my first poop since Friday & it made me feel bit better - only been able to poop 3 times since Wednesday's dental extractions & 1st day of immediate dentures put in. I did my saltwater & antiseptic oral rinses. Now, having mug of warm fermented salted lime & honey drink. Will attempt to eat some ramen noodle soup soon. No nausea atm & hoping it does not return today. I'm VERY hungry & need a lot more nourishment.

I only ate 1/3 of my ice cream. Also changed my mind & took 1 ibuprofen instead of stronger T3, to avoid feeling gross/too out of it. I got both lower & upper dentures out, without much pain. Lower ones were super easy & easily slipped out - no blood on it. Upper one was harder, because of the suction factor - only 3 wee spots of blood but nothing serious. Scrubbed my tongue clean. Rinsed with warm salt water, followed by antiseptic mouthwash. Dentures will soak overnight. I feel relief in my mouth. Took my antibiotics combo. I'm going to sleep so good tonight. The pain from earlier today has almost dissipated tonight. My gums are doing pretty good, considering it's only day 3 👍

Additional antibiotics are being picked up right now. I'm using Colgate #Peroxyl #antiseptic #mouthwash to help my gums to heal & to help prevent getting too many mouth sores. I rinse with that, after gentle warm water mouth swirling rinse.
I'm supposed to take my immediates out tonight to clean them; put back in the morning. I'm going to wait til late evening to remove for the night. I want to keep them in for longer to help my gums to heal better & to not lose shape.

I think once my tongue grows smaller, as the gums heal up more & my mouth adjusts to the dentures - the lisp I've developed, since extractions, will likely go away too.

I don't really know how to smile properly with the #dentures yet...it's been years since I tried smiling with open mouth. I'll have to learn how to do that again, learn how to say certain words/letters better, learn how to chew on both sides of mouth, learn how to eat without bottom falling out & learn how to put dentures in/out without too much difficulties.

My breakfast today is #BabyGourmet pouch of hearty veggie & turkey #puree. #ParentsChoice pouch of banana, sweet potato, blueberry & brown rice puree. 3 small bottles of #Activia banana strawberry #yogurt drinks.
My jawline & gums pain woke me up several times last night. I was getting up to replace icepacks throughout the night - no extra swelling this morning 👍. I took one painkiller at 6am & will need another after getting some food into belly. The upper set aren't bothering me much, they just feel strange because I'm not used to having dentures in at all. The lower set is very uncomfy, feels like they're going to fall out & will need most of the adjustment work today.
I'm moving my denturist appointment to afternoon because sleep was rough. I'm sleeping bit more after eating - woke up, very hungry.

I can't feel most of my face. Am really woozy. Unable to talk & am communicating by hand signals for now. Mouth is quite bloody inside & I'm keeping it closed for rest of day, except for when doing saltwater & antiseptic rinses, taking meds & when eating soft foods. Got some ice packs ready to put on both sides of my face to help keep swelling down. Hopefully, won't have too many blood clots in early days of recovery - it's normal to get a couple, for major extractions.
Denturist appointment is tomorrow morning, follow up & dentures adjustments.
