It's because the stock market is not the collective wisdom of sober economic evaluation that it is hyped to be.
Someone - I forget who - described it memorably, and far more accurately, as "the stock market is a mood ring for how rich people feel about the economy that day".
Adam Smith was a great economist. But the invisible hand theory needs a government that is paying attention, not one that is being paid to look the other way.
South Australia is looking like a greater and greater state to live in, or at least model!

Yet another illustration of the fact that #Meta and the rest of #BigTech will only do the right thing when forced to do so by #regulation. Meta could have rolled out this #privacy-protecting account-unbundling feature everywhere—in fact, it would have been _easier_ for them to do that then to geofence it—but they're only rolling it out in countries where it's required by law.
The #InvisibleHand does not protect consumers, it exploits them.
