I can’t believe how fast this semester went. Teaching Linux Administration at has been one of the highlights of my year.

Watching students go from “what’s a terminal?” to confidently managing services, firewalls, accounts, and networks never gets old.

Huge shoutout to my students — thanks for showing up, asking great questions, and pushing yourselves. Can’t wait to do it again.

It never stops to amaze me how stupid the theatre run by #Russia is: what is shown on these photos from #Luhansk are pieces of Storm Shadow missile, but what is important is the labels:

#СЦКК - Совместный Центр Контроля и Координации

In English: JCCC - Joint Centre for Control and Coordination. Russians are using #JCCC logos and emblems in May 2023, because it’s important. But what is JCCC?

The Joint Centre for Control and Coordination on ceasefire and stabilization of the demarcation line, abbreviated JCCC, is an organization composed of Ukrainian and Russian military officers, whose role is to help implement the Minsk ceasefire agreements and ensure the safety of OSCE monitors in the Russo-Ukrainian War. It was established September 26, 2014. (…) On December 19, 2017, the Russian staff of the JCCC were recalled by the foreign ministry of the Russian Federation, and left Ukraine.[^2]

The reason why it was called “Joint” was because it was composed of Ukrainian and Russian monitors, was established as part of Minsk Agreements, when Russia still pretended publicly it’s not participant of the conflict. The JCCC ended when Russia withdrawn its monitors and it stopped being “joint” at that time. Regardless of that Russia continues to use name and symbolics, and Russian state media uncritically quote it without any notion on the absurdity of using the original name in the current conditions of the full-scale war…[^3]

I wrote about this a while ago already but now I noticed that some Russian media started to expand the acronym to a new name:

Совместный центр контроля и координации вопросов, касающихся военных преступлений Украины Joint Centre of Control and Coordination of the questions regarding war crimes of Ukraine

Someone apparently noticed that the old name including “ceasefire and stabilization of the demarcation line” was rather silly in 2023, but didn’t want to waste a good name well established in Russian media as “international observers”, and just fixed it to suit their taste, leaving the absurdity of the “Joint” component as a historical relict that nobody is going to look into…

"Why the (former Toronto) Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre must be saved". A rare and unique work of architecture by Raymond Moriyama. Toronto just doesn't that many buildings of architectural significance.

@DotardTed @PawelK

BTW note that “LPR JCCC” is an oxymoron :) The J in JCCC stands for “joint” meaning Russian and Ukrainian monitoring mission in Donbass which was created while Russia still pretended it doesn’t really control its troops in Donbass and engaged in the Minsk process. Russians left #JCCC in 2017, which was basically defunct since then, and it definitely wasn’t “joint”. Russians in LPR are essentially using the old markings of JCCC that were left with them in 2017 to pretend on their TV that there’s some kind of “international” monitoring on their territory.
