We had similar in #Kitchener. Dutchies took what the big chains cast off or left at the food terminal. They paid $0.20 on the dollar and charge you $0.40. So you buy 5 pints of berries for the price of two then throw one of them out; you're still ahead.
So great if you were gonna wash, prep and use/freeze em that day but not great otherwise.
Now, they're out of business (rightly) because they screwed their workers and vendors, but viable model. Sad to see it going.
