Finally ditched #linode after 15 years. A pity, but yeah, good old times that will never come back
Finally fixed unable to upload large video issue…. Turns out Linode Object Storage have issues with multipart upload
I should have known this because this also happened a lot when I was working on the Object Storage project

I am actually impressed by Hetzner so far
Let’s see if it’s unstable like Linode
Finally decided to migrate my #UptimeKuma to #Linode.
After trolling through many tags and lists trying to see what folks enjoy for #smallweb site generators and frameworks seems like good old dusty #jekyll and #nginx is probably as good as bet as any. One constraint thats not implicitly met by Jekyll is no javascript, but that’s reliant on themes.
For hosting.. probably just find something reasonable through #lowendtalk since I’ve been unable to convince #linode my account from > 10 years ago is actually mine.
Hmm looks like the entire #linode support community is offline? Well shit...
Automating server deployment on Linode.com with Terraform.

Migration So Far to #Linode:
- #NetBSD install is set up with ZFS snapshots
- #Forgejo Instance has been migrated.
- Main website is back up.
- My ftp site has been migrated.
All that's left is #Fedicraft's website and all is good!
For the record:
* They emailed me the same request again on January 1, 2025. I once again told them to pound sand.
* This morning they escalated by filing a #DMCA takedown request with #Linode, my hosting provider. Email addresses can't be copyrighted, so the request is totally bogus. Linode forwarded it to me and demanded that I take action rather than reading it carefully enough to determine that it's bogus. I just wrote back to them and told them it is. We'll see what happens.
#Comcast
I was just thinking about this as well; I've had a Linode for 23 years, I think, but it's time to find something in Canada, ideally. If not that, then Europe, probably, because of GDPR.
I don't particularly care where in Canada, as long as it has good connectivity and a reliable operator.
Palikuši tikai 9 mazie #VPS serveri #Linode un #DigitalOcean . Plāns vēl kādus 2-3 izslēgt.
When rebooting my #Gentoo server on #linode from the command line (i.e., `shutdown -r now`), the server doesn't actually come back up.
That's because Linode's platform doesn't do reboots. What actually powers the server back on is Lassie. Check if you have yours turned off (maybe you were fiddling with backups and forgot to turn it back on like me).
aaaaand my vps is down again. really need to switch providers. for more than one reason really. #linode might be a good option now that they dont use #cloudflare. but i kinda worry with the datacap that some asshole could just flood my server with requests and use up the bandwidth. not even a ddos technically. just downloading files over and over again. and im sure most peoples solution there is to give in and use CF but i dont wanna do that.
