@alexkaessner Regarding iPadOS and iOS I see the idea and think the whole #LiquidGlass thing can work—if they put some more effort in accessibility. I feel good about designing mobile apps in the future.

So, is this optically-radiused corner effect called something different now, since it’s on non-square window panes and not just icons?

I haven't liked the way iOS looks for 12 years, but now I just hate it. They've really done it this time. I really wish Android had decent scrolling, typography, and animations so that it was a viable candidate for switching away, but I'm so deep in the ecosystem (and so accustomed to the lack of jank) that I just couldn't.

But never, in my 18 years of continued iOS usage, in my 26 years of Mac usage, have I wished so badly that there was somewhere else I could go.

Inzwischen vermute ich, sie haben NICHT seit Jahren daran gearbeitet sondern es tatsächlich in recht kurzer Zeit übers Knie gebrochen.

Es ist so dermaßen offensichtlich schlecht an vielen Stellen (ablenkend, schlecht lesbar, uneinheitlich bei ihren eigen Apps usw) und hat so viele Bugs.
Aber der Effekt? Naja, für #flutter gibt es jetzt schon ein passendes Paket und die müssen alles(!) selbst zeichnen! Hat jetzt Tage gedauert

That’s the difference to the transition to iOS 7: after that transition, old apps looked gross because they did too much visually. They became much calmer after that. Now I don’t know how content can do enough to stand out among all that warping and movement. #liquidglass @atpfm

That said, I think some of the liquid glass effects are incredibly cool. But put content front and center they do not. #liquidglass

Animated warping under interface elements while scrolling is movement at the edge of my field of view and humans cannot avoid turning their attention there, it’s a reflex. #liquidglass

As an UI designer I take pride in the fact that I don’t bullshit my clients. If something looks cool just because there’s value in it looking cool, that’s what I say. I don’t claim it does things it verifiably doesn’t do, like »draw attention to the content«. Because that erodes trust in my expertise. Apple used to be that way, they aren’t under the current leadership. @atpfm

The adaptation to #LiquidGlass continues here for @charty! As @_Davidsmith pointed in the latest #UnderTheRadar episode, a lot of this is removing custom code in order to get the advantages of what the system is offering.

After seeing some CSS demos trying to mimic #LiquidGlass I can confidently say:

It's going to fry your laptop.

Initial implementations rely on SVG filters, which are unoptimized on browsers. My guess? There will be a CSS filter for that called "liquid-glass" next year.

#Ivory era la meva aplicació per Mastodon preferida però ara ho és #IceCubesApp 2.0.0 perquè és molt bona i treu profit de #LiquidGlass de #iOS26. Segur que els desenvolupadors d'Ivory treuran una nova versió que també ho faci i serà igualment espectacular en disseny.
M'agradaria tenir apps per Android tant espectacularment dissenyades com aquestes dues per iOS però no n'hi ha, a Android totes son lletges, deu ser per les llibreries gràfiques suposo.
