"Coming Winter"

I am a bit late to the party with this as winter has already come and partly passed. I took this one last autumn at my grandparents place..or rather, only my grandfather is left. The man is old but still looks the same as in the last 30 years of memory, and the place hasn't changed much either. I readily confess that this picture isn't all that picture to anyone but me. I live far away from my grandparents place now, I don't know how often I will visit, maybe the day I took this picture was the last time because this coming Winter was his last. Maybe there are 10 more years in it. I don't know. Thinking about that makes me sad, and that is the emotion carried by this badly stacked pile of firewood. The fear of a coming loss and the words that hasn't been said.

My own take on the mirror selfie. ;-)
#photography #selfie #m43

A picture of me holding my camera as seen in a mirror. The camera is in the center of the picture, facing directly forward towards the mirror. The camera is a Panasonic Lumix GX seven with a Voigtlander Nokton 25 mm F/0.95 lens (the text on the lens is backwards because of the mirror). Behind the camera you can see me in a gray shirt, blurred out of focus. The picture is framed such that you cannot see my head or my lower body.

Dahlia flower, Pokhara, Nepal
My first attempt at semi-macro photography, after discovering that my zoom lens has a very limited minimum focus distance. Unaware of the optimal aperture, so the ants on the flower ended up out of focus.

Letzer Versuch Nifty Fifty: ttArtisan 25mm f2 MFT.

#photography #diptyque #monochrome #monochrom #bnw #Olympus #m43 #reflet #MultiExposition #MultiExposure #Bretagne #Finistere

Good Saturday morning. Have many pictures from last night. Let’s finish with the remaining images the Dwarf Mini telescope took last night. Here is its version of / / .

NGC 1977 The Running Man Nebula / M43 De Mairan's Nebula / M42 The Great Nebula in Orion - telescope processed image. M42 and M43 are part of the same massive cloud! While they look separate, M43 is just a "comma" pinched off from the Great Orion Nebula by a dark lane of dust. They're one big stellar nursery.NGC 1977 The Running Man Nebula / M43 De Mairan's Nebula / M42 The Great Nebula in Orion - unprocessed image. NGC 1977 is a reflection nebula, meaning it doesn't glow on its own. It shines by scattering blue light from nearby stars, like a cosmic "blue sky" surrounding its runner.

"Frost"

It wasnt actually that cold that day. For some already unknown reason I went out and about somewhat early in the morning and was waiting for the next tram to come, the light shone through the actual frosted glass and it felt like it was this blue. In reality I once again used post-processing to superimpose feelings in an otherwise more plain image. I define photography as that for myself, capturing the moment and then adding feelings to it without altering the actual pixel-array. Technical speaking. Its a fine rope dance to be honest. All that computational photographing stuff that goes on in phones and modern cameras makes it hard to draw the line, especially when you begin to use neural networks to remove stuff in the picture.

A ski resort in Niigata, Japan
Using a small-sensor camera often makes me wonder what a full-frame body would deliver. But getting this shot from a hill on the ski field (SOOC, no editing) was a reminder of a basic truth in photography: the best camera is the one you actually carry. I would have been too scared to bring an expensive, heavy, non-weather-sealed camera to places like this.
