Is there something like #MagicLantern (custom Firmware for Canon cameras) for #Nikon cameras (specifically, the D5600)?

There are a few issues I have with the default firmware (unnecessary recording time limit, touchscreen controls unusable when watching through viewfinder as a left-eye dominant person, no custom modes, …).
My search did not come up with something, and NikonHacker also has disappeared…

Ich bin Fan von meiner #Canon (mit #MagicLantern, echt coole Firmwareerweiterung für Canons, kennt die jemand?). Manueller Fokus und eine echte Blende (nicht das unscharfgerechne, was ich bei den tollen iPhones bestaunen durfte) sind schon einfach praktisch. Und die 300€ (inzwischen wahrscheinlich mehr) geb' ich gerne für eine gute Kamera aus, die ich jetzt schon 6 Jahre nutze, wenn ich sie dann nicht in ein neuestes #iPhone (mit tollen digitalfiltern, die ich auch immernoch am Laptop nachbearbeiten kann) investieren muss, sondern sie mir bei der Wahl meines Handys die Freiheit geben, nicht mehr auf die Kamera achten zu müssen sondern nur darauf, dass es ein custom ROM unterstützt.

I'm also pleased to see that there's some support for #MagicLantern for my camera now. If I can just use it as an intervalometer I would be very happy as trying to get #TriggerTrap running would be a fools errand.

I feel like a kid with a new toy. I mean of course I could have done this with #MagicLantern and interval + advanced bracketed capture, but I *no longer have to manually change the SD card* every few hours!!!

I have a #CanonEosM (from 2013) with #MagicLantern. It takes good photographs with the 22mm lense but does not work with the Ef-M 55-200mm.
Does anyone know anything about that?

Is there a Camera hacking / #ReverseEngineering community (or hashtag) hiding somewhere on Mastodon? For "real" cameras (DSLR / mirrorless)?

The #CHDK and #MagicLantern communities are rather dormant and seem to lack support for devices younger than a decade.

I'm apparently the last survivor of the #SamsungNX community (abandoned by Samsung in 2015), and interested in reversing their ARM firmwares, but my #ARM skills are rather modest.

Continuing the #magiclantern experiment. The first image is the default HD output of the camera (with the frame cropped and blown up to match the ML output), and the second is the raw video shot at 960x540(!) and upscaled to HD.

What do you think?

It's summer, which is cycling season and I'm back, in colour-graded 4K, with a new video about my new road bike!

I shot the footage of the bike in RAW video on a Magic Lantern-hacked Canon EOS M, which I colour-graded to really make the colours and shading pop.

My little canon eos m with this manual 35mm cctv lens paints the most lovely blur. I use Magic Lantern on it, mainly for the 10x zoom that helps with setting the focus. Together, it makes my photowalks so meditative. It forces me to slow down, to frame the shot, set the focus and hold still… ✨😌✨ #canoneosm #magiclantern #canon #photography #spring
