¿Sabían que el cacao ceremonial es mucho más que el chocolate caliente que conocemos, y que para las culturas mesoamericanas, como los aztecas y mayas, era una bebida reservada para la élite, los guerreros y los rituales sagrados?

La bebida original (xocolātl, "agua amarga") se preparaba con semillas de cacao molidas, agua, chiles y especias, pero sin azúcar. Tenía un sabor amargo y picante, y un efecto vigorizante.

No era una bebida cotidiana, sino un lujo de gran valor. El cacao se usaba como moneda y la bebida se asociaba con Xochiquétzal, la diosa del amor y la fertilidad. El cacao es un estimulante suave que abre el corazón y mejora el enfoque, razón por la cual se le ha recuperado hoy en día en círculos herbolarios y espirituales modernos como una bebida que promueve la conexión y la gratitud.
