And louder always sounds better, so when I have the #Voxengo #Elephant as mastering limiter after that #Korneff #Sitral Klangfilter, I can easily fool myself by just 0.8dB more output…

Some people call it #Mastering, for me it's just part of the entire recording/mixdown thing. Trying to make it as best as it can get, sound-wise…

… so that folks can pump up their iPhone speakers and enjoy.

ich hör mir gerade Musik an, die eine Freundin von früher produziert hat. Und das erste, das mein Gehirn macht ist: die Gitarre gehört leiser und die Mitten raus, die Stimme lauter, der Synth mit mehr Mitten,.... etc. Ergo - mein "Producer-Hirn" würde sofort den gesamten Mixdown abändern.

So i guess i need to learn more about #AudioMixing and how to #mixdown a recording. I have a DAW its http://Soundtrap.com but im a silly baby with no audio mixing gneral know how... but im willing to read things and learn

Marantz PMD430 #cassette recorder. It is stereo and of very good build. Can run on batteries, so was ideal for recording live #jazz. Also for recording #mixdown as a backup to DAT and multitrack when I did electronic music shows (#ambient, #techno, #house, #experimental, #avantgarde).

Low noise due to DBX noise reduction (also dolby). I replaced the belt last year, cleaned the heads and that's it for maintenance over decades.
