I'm starting to mute the boosts of people I don't want to mute the boosts of.

You know that issue, right? In #Mastodon, when you hide someone's boosts, the boosts are not immediately removed? I find this highly annoying. So much so that I have put in a pull request for it, and that I run the code on my instance:

Remember how I said that I use filters to hide things that I don't want to read. It relies on keywords and hashtags.
Remember how I said that if a post is not properly tagged, I won't boost it, and I might even mute the author, or mute the boosts of the person boosting it?
Yep, it is happening.
It is called self-care.
Boost all the things and win the fabulous prize of your boosts disappearing from my timeline, because I mute your boosts.
A reminder to people who like to "boost all the things."
Your boosts get muted.
I don't want my timeline to explode. It has nothing to do with the topics you choose to boost.
This is self-care.
Bill: "It is important to practice self-care if you don't want to have a meltdown."
Bill: [Boosts all those ill-conceived posts from other people.]
Me: [I see a lot of shit in my timeline. I mute Bill's boosts.]
Bill: "Hey, someone told me you muted my boosts. What gives?"
Me: "I practiced self-care."
I've muted someone's boosts this morning and blocked someone else.
If I see a lot of boosts from someone, I go to their profile and I look at how many boosts there are relative to them posting their own toots. If they are 99% boosting other people, I mute the boosts, or I block.
(The 99% figure is made up. I don't actually tally the toots.)
I will generally mute only the boosts, but the person I blocked today was boosting stuff of extremely dubious quality. Most of the time, for me, it was "I don't care." However, too often it was "WTF is this shit?" Overall, it was a net negative.
Too much boosted shit and you end up blocked. No, we're not going to have a discussion about it. I don't care if you are #ActuallyAutistic.
(If you see this, you've obviously not been blocked. Most of you are doing fine. The stuff you boost is not extreme. Or you speak for yourself, instead of just boosting.)
