@debby @DroidPort personally, I think the "optics" of leaving the #Fediverse are more important and are seen as silent confirmation of valid criticism.
Cuz even if I'd be annoying the shit out of @protonprivacy (and I doubt that!) there are ample of tools for them like #muting and #blocking.
I kind of think that not putting content warnings on very violent stuff and then going 'it's our duty to look at these images' is not very productive here.
I mean, it's pretty easy to mute or block you if people don't feel the same way. Then none of your posts will get seen. At some point you might get server blocks or similar.
Also, it's not mandatory for me to read anybody's posts. Even if I mostly like what you post.
Over the top reactions to routine stuff get muted.
Muting a user removes them from your notifications...so practical and also you don't suddenly start an unnecessary feud with them...
...and perhaps I/you was wrong. Maybe shouldn't have been muted. Maybe was a misunderstanding...but...
...and a big but...muting gives a peace of mind that is necessary to keep your calm and still feel welcome in the fediverse.
I'm muting folks over the above behavior. Either they have muted *me* and do not know of my policy, or they just flat out don't care.
If you don't want to see me naked don't look in my window.

I'm starting to see people on #bluesky now saying, they enjoy #blocking people and #muting them. And I also seeing people moan when people they don't follow them reply. That seems like a really bad sign to me. If people don't want #conversation then there seems no point in #socialmedia at all.
I'm not going to lie: automatically expiring mutes are how I've managed to keep several people in my feed.
Don't get me wrong, I like reading what these people post. Most of the time. But sometimes they overwhelm my timeline, and I need a break. The ability to mute these accounts for a couple hours is why I can keep them around. If I couldn't do that I'd have to drop them.

How bad a person am I?
My native #language is English. I tried learning foreign languages in school, but my brain hated it. (conversely I'm very good at computer languages). So I can't read other languages. Other people post their in their native languages and it shows up on my feed. To curate my feed I've been #muting people who post in languages I don't read. How bad a person am I for doing this?
In no way am I upset that people are posting in other languages.
