you were briefly touching on the danger of #signal demanding #phonenumbers from users, but i don't think you sufficiently highlighted the real danger of it, especially because of the repeated bugs in #signal making hidden numbers visible to other users — and therefore also to cops who can unmask networks of activists with just one captured phone, despite settings promising that they're hidden! 📱⚠️

Just witnessed a #NaziBar situation on a Twitch livestream. Someone in the chat starts posting weirdo racist comments like "You have such good genes!", "Make America White Again!", etc.

The streamer sees the comments and says "Oh, I can't respond to some of these messages. I'll get in trouble." And lets it continue.

Just say "Dude, that's not cool. We don't do that here." But letting it happen and allowing them to stay? Nope, unfollowed.

This is the Nazi bar problem. They're standing on the curb and your doors are wide open. Sure, you're kicking them out after they walk in and punch a few customers, but is that really how you want your bar to be known? As the place that apologizes *after* the Nazi assaults you?

Periodic reminder that YTMND is a nazi bar and has been since near its conception when people were posting memes about "[racial slur] stole my bike", "dead [racial slur] storage", and using an LGBTQ-branded energy drink not as a celebration of queer folks but as a mockery of them. It's one of the pillars of white cishet male edginess, alongside 4chan.

Even as of recent there's shit like "[homophobic slur]warts school" on the front page.

This is more personal for me than most other edgy sites because I used to frequent YTMND. I had to throw away my morals just to fit in with the community, when I was 15. But no more. I will not turn the other way at bigotry just to fit into communities.
