I thought we were still in long sleeves season, but turns out it is already layers and gloves season. 🥶 🚲
Nevertheless, lots of awesome people commuting on their bikes across Tāmaki-Makaurau!!

Way more excited than I should be about my workplace getting on the workride programme to help employees buy ebikes, bikes or scooters for cheaper.
Removing barriers for people who'd like to commute in greener transport methods!
I don't even need a new bike but I'm just keen on more people riding in to work.
We're going to need a bigger bike rack!
🚲💚🌏
Spent some time behind the wheel again this week, which made me realise how much I did *not* miss driving. We sold our car 3 years or so ago and have been doing almost everything by bike and train since then, which I find so much more chill than all this hassle with traffic jams and speeding around at 100kmh hoping that everyone else is just as invested in your safety as you are :-)
Had not had something like this happen in a while.
Riding my bike back home, a car passes me and some angry dude yells something. Of course he's caught up in traffic a little bit further ahead so I approach and say "what's your problem?"
-you shouldn't be on the road!
"so where should I be?"
He insists (wrongly) I shouldn't be on the road, gets off the car approaches me and threatens to punch me.
I'm not afraid and I dare him to do it, see how it works out for him. Plenty of witnesses and cameras on my bike, plus a very embarrassed woman still in the car with him.
He returns to his car, sits there and sulks.
I take my phone out, snap a picture of his car, smile and wave goodbye.
He's still sitting in traffic, probably.
Violently ignorant.
This is your brain on Cars.
Traffic was out of control today on the way home, but guess who was back on their bike and just zoomed through it anyway?

Warum sind in #Berlin die sog. #Fahrradstraßen eigentlich voller #Autos die einen als Fahrradmenschen behindern?

Christmas mobility tip (evergreen but more so in the silly season) :
If you absolutely have to go to the shops, leave your car behind. (and #MaskUp of course)
Bike is best, public transport too.
Motorists are all out, searching for carparks and seemingly stressed out.
Stay away and avoid eye contact.
Acquaintance complaining how they needed to cut their gym session short because traffic was so bad they wasted most of the time they had for it.
The Most Efficient System™ strikes again.
Really excited to find out that the water bottle holder in my bike can also hold beers.

Going with the playcentre kids to Motat (Museum of Transport and Technology) today.
Our trip starts and ends with bike+train multimodal transportation so it's extra Transporty.
Motat also has Locky Docks next to it. They're the best bike racks in the city. Free, secure and with charging available for ebikes.
While all the other parents stress out about parking and traffic we cruise right in and recharge our rides.
A better world is right here.

I feel so seen. 🚲

Today in #CarryShitOlympics:
Both a fire station AND a train station on a bike.
🚲🚒🛤️
Bonus: now the bike has a siren, which the small child finds endlessly amusing. It's a FireBike.

Bad traffic? In Auckland?
Oh I ride a bike, I wouldn't know. 🤗🚲

(Yes we have trains on a Sunday! This is my excited face! 😃)
On top of the regular problems we all know about, cars have also become tools for surveillance.
A bicycle would never. 🚲❤️
Absolutely disgusting mode of transportation!
Everyday kiwis are sick and tired of wasting money in a clean, safe, healthy and fun way of getting around that lets them connect with nature and each other.
Well no more!
We will finally be free of this nightmare and will be safe in our eternal, polluting traffic jams inside our expensive boxes of metal and rage, thank you minister Brown.
More so, we'll guarantee struggling oil companies continue to make money.

We rode on my bike around town today.
Me, my partner and the little one, all in the same bike like an improvised goofy tandem clown bike.
Loads of fun, passers by shared a laugh, a smile or a moment of surprise.
Bikes produce joyful moments, even with strangers, that cars can't ever dream of.
😁🚲
