So I was just reading about #hopepunk vs. #noblebright, and I must say Im all about these terms #fantasy #fantasylit #writing #writingcommunity

Maybe I'm just uncultured, but I learned the term #noblebright as an antonym for #grimdark for the first time. This will be a useful addition to my lexicon!

The very concept of #NobleBright is already pretty gendered, because Disney and other makers of kids entertainments female protagonists are goody goodies without flaws, always kind and with the best intentions.

Mr. Knightley: Neutral Good. Also charming.

Mary: Chaotic Good. She and her black-clad Marys tear up society to reinvent it.

#hopepunk is largely a reaction to an excess of #grimdark stories, where everything is rotten and people do whatever benefits them, regardless of the consequences to anyone else.
The characters find unexpected solutions to improve the situation, which can be more interesting to read. And avoids unrealistic smarmy characters of #noblebright.
It can be used with almost any setting.

So would anyone like to brainstorm with me on what a #noblebright remix/reimagining of A Song of Ice and Fire might look like?

I'm not promising anything as I have too many projects as it but I might try it for fun.

Though I have to admit a #noblebright remix of a Song of Ice and Fire might be fun to read
