Sharing a bit of West Flows. It's one of my favorite scenes, but it really is a bit of a spoiler. And of course, the scene is actually much longer, but I couldn't paste it all.

So don't read the ALT unless you want to like West and Jeko. 😀 (Let me reassure you, this scene is very atypical for them - there was an evil spell involved.)

West had never tried to get rid of a rider before. But he had to get Jeko off his back. Strangely enough, he felt his ears go back until they lay flat against his head.

Then he bucked, until Jeko jerked on his reins again. West squealed at the pain in his mouth, managed to get the bit between his back teeth, and bit down on the metal as hard as he could. That way, Jeko could no longer hurt his mouth.

A moment later, he was bucking and kicking, harder than he ever had. Jeko was cursing and lashing him with the whip, but it only made West more determined to get him out of his saddle.

All his bucking brought him further down the street, and he noticed another door, lower, not made for riders.

Jeko clung to him, kept hitting him, and West was getting angry. No, he was not letting his rider do this.

So he headed for the door, kicking, bucking and twisting, and then he ran a few steps, intending to scrape Jeko off his back.

Before he could hit the door, Jeko slipped out of the saddle, still holding his rein. And he lashed out with the whip again.

West bared his teeth into Jeko’s face and pushed him roughly against the opposite wall, using his body to trap him there.
