I'm able to understand series/movies featuring almost any US American EN dialect. Since #FISK I know that I also do understand Australian city talk. Since yesterday I'm proudly able to say that I ALSO comprehend spoken Tasmanian EN - as well as rural dialects. HOW do I know?

Matt McGorry posted 2 long-ish videos on his instagram about having LongCovid, ableism and masks. It's 8 minutes and 10 minutes, absolutely worth watching. (He's known for oitnb and htgawm (lol)).

Good to see some attention to LongCovid from a fairly big name, and the fact that he's a fitness guy is a nice detail. (Sad that stuff like this is important to be believed.) He's absolutely checking his privilege in the videos, saying that it was hard for him to get diagnosed and get help, even though he has the resources, and that it's way harder for marginalised identities.

These videos are showcasing an example of healthy masculinity.

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK - 6/6/2014, Netflix

Season 2 of the long-running prison drama series was released on this date in 2014. It was great to see a well-made, well-written series with lots of lesbian or bi women portrayed, a major regular character who is trans and has her own nuanced story lines, and queer characters of color, especially given TV's long history of focusing LGBTQ portrayals disproportionately on white gay men.

If it had debuted a few decades earlier, activists probably would have pilloried it for perpetuating the trope of violent queer women, but by the 2010s there were enough different types of queer characters onscreen that ORANGE did not attract the kind of objections that, for instance, the 1970s-80s women's-prison TV serial PRISONER (aka PRISONER: CELL BLOCK H) had attracted from some lesbian activists at the time.

Bin seit #OITNB-Zeiten ein Fan von der Frau Lyonne. Ziemlich sicher, wenn ich als Weibchen auf die Welt gekommen wäre, hätt ich mich zu in etwa zu einer derartigen No-BS-Chaos-Braut entwickelt (hoffentlich).
