Bridge over autumn waters, Scoville Reservoir, Wolcott, Connecticut. October 19, 2019, 8:50 AM.

A beautiful morning with a deep blue October sky mirrored on the waters below. We are following a dirt and gravel footpath to a wooden footbridge across the mouth of a small cove on a large lake. A cluster of aquatic plants along both sides of the bridge have turned bright oranges and golds, as have most of the trees surrounding the lake. A grove of stately pines just across the bridge add deep green tones.

I browsed through my photos from recent months and found this one from October 10th, Finnish Literature Day. Just a flag, a peculiar tree, a pond and sunshine. I quite like the photo.

The image is a historical black-and-white photograph showing a group of men in formal attire walking together outdoors. They are dressed in suits, hats, and ties, which were typical fashion for the early 20th century. The men appear to be in a line, with their bodies oriented forward, suggesting they are walking purposefully. The setting seems to be a rural or semi-rural area, as there are trees and open land visible in the background. The sky is overcast, giving the image a somewhat somber tone. The caption at the top of the photograph reads, "BECKER ON WAY TO SING SING 10/30/12," indicating that the men are likely heading to Sing Sing, which is a correctional facility in New York State. The date "10/30/12" suggests the photograph was taken on October 30, 1912. The overall composition and attire of the individuals suggest a formal or official event.

Some of the best fall colors I ever saw in Connecticut came on a very rainy evening in late October 2019. Scoville Reservoir, Wolcott, Connecticut. October 29, 2019, 5:25 PM.

A gray and rainy evening, walking a gravel and dirt path. A wooden footbridge crosses a stream and the surrounding marsh. The marsh is filled with tall water grasses now golden brown and leafy shrubs decked out in bright yellows and yellow greens with touches of gold and orange. The same vibrant colors are repeated on the trees on either side of the marsh, although some taller trees on the far side bordering a wide grassy area have lost most or all of their leaves.

October sunset at the reservoir. New Britain Reservoir, Wolcott, Connecticut. October 12, 2019, 6:00 PM.

#hiking #photography #outdoors #landscapephotography #nature #Connecticut #autumn #October #forest #sunset #sunsetphotography #autumnvibes #lake

A blue gray evening sky with a few clouds tinted gold by the sunset. We are standing beside the feeder stream for a lake. The stream is surrounded by a grassy marsh with large gray boulders scattered around, a cluster of small white flowers and a few short leafy shrubs. On our left, the marsh ends at the edge of a forest with a number of maples already turning bright reds and oranges. The water level of the reservoir is low, much of the lake bed is exposed around the edges, covered with a green leafy ground cover that resembles grass from a distance.
