Thank you to whomever here shared the #OdinProject recently because my 17yo son had expressed a vague interest in learning to make a web page and I sent him the link and apparently his mind is blown and he's all fired up to learn web things and maybe how to program and whatnot

The young have the great gifts of time (usually) and energy, if they can only decide where to direct it. I'm curious to see where this goes.

I'm new here. Here's my #introduction. ๐ŸŒฑ

My name is Mim; I live in a tiny apartment in a tiny village amongst the fields and farms of rural #Nebraska.

I love sewing, drawing, playing the piano, baking, and crafting. I'm doing the #OdinProject with my daughter to refresh and relearn web development, the newest challenge in my life.

I believe in #manners, #creativity, #honesty, #positivity, #humor, #kindness, and #imagination.

I look forward to meeting you! ๐ŸŒฑ

I've been making little mini applications as part of the #odinProject and it's been so refreshing to be able to open them on my phone, tablet, a different browser on a different desktop OS and see them almost unchanged. I've just been reading through some early 2000s web dev blog posts and I really appreciate how good web standards are these days! And how so many of those people pushing for them then are still involved

I was working through the #odinproject #Ruby path but got sidetracked with #js and then ended up taking a few months off, so I need a refresher.

I saw mentions of rubykoans, exercism, codewars, etc. Is there one that's better or a favorite?

Background time, I've got a lot of experience with scripting in a lot of languages. #Ruby, #Python, and #bash since my gig is infrastructure management and #devops. I've hacked on some compiled languages as well, namely C++ and C#. Any who, I'd really like to start contributing to a few projects instead of just being the mofo opening issues. Almost picked up a udemy course to crash course #javascript since my current romance with #calckey is #node and #vue. But I stumbled across a pretty sweet resource to do some learning. It's called the #OdinProject. Covers some basic html and css stuff up front but ends up diving into some relevant javascript stuff. Also has rails path as well.

I guess this is a long winded way of saying if you interested in learning about javascript or rails based web development, it looks like a great free resource.
