I lost an hour to doing this, and I believe it's an hour well-spent.
The rhythm of the 1st Violins section is much improved with these variations of articulations. I think a sample library would struggle with these combinations.
I like that I can do this with free software, with sounds I designed from first principles.

A Sound Noodle: Cavatina.
I improved the Section Violin and Nylon Guitar designs, and it sounds pretty good to me!
The most recent work has been tweaks to the tone of the instruments, and they have that hard-to-achieve acoustic sound, which is particularly difficult for virtual instruments.
I'd like to think it's better in some ways than multi-gigabyte sampled libraries.
I got a "Wait, that's a synth?" response, which is always good news.
