That's it: my last #PengMagdeburg for now 🥺 I hope I haven't found them all so I can look forward to finding more

A black graffiti heart with a dark, blurred object underneath it is spray-painted on a stucco wall. To the right, a cartoon drawing depicts two smiling, head-like figures connected by a horizontal line. The figures each have two dots for eyes and a small curved line for a mouth. One figure has the letters "PE" above it, while the other has "NG". The figure on the left has two short, straight lines on either side to suggest movement. The image is taken close-up and shows the rough texture of the wall.

A mini #Peng in #Magdeburg #Salbke 🔍

This structure is the #LesezeichenSalbke, or "bookmark" ("Salbke" is the name of the neighbourhood). It was built in 2009 as an open air library (and bookcrossing spot), a venue for small events, and a noise barrier for the locals. It even won some awards (like the #EuropeanPrizeForUrbanPublicSpace)!

Sadly, it's a popular spot for vandalism too, so since 2015, there are no more books here. What a shame, it is such a beautiful concept! And I feel stupid now, because I learned all of this only an hour ago. 😅 I did see a small concert a few years ago here! But it was already dark and short, so I didn't see much of the Lesezeichen at the time.

When I passed by in May to take photos of #PengMagdeburg, it looked rather sad and run-down, but I should have spent more time to take it in. Well, next time!

The image is a medium-distance, eye-level shot of a building facade with a modern, brutalist style. The front of the structure is a wall made of light-coloured concrete blocks, arranged in a grid with an open, decorative pattern. The blocks have square cut-outs, giving the wall a permeable, almost lace-like appearance. The lower part of the wall is covered in dark graffiti and street art, one of them being a stylized face by artist Peng. There are also several framed panels on the wall, possibly with artwork or information on them. A set of concrete stairs leads up to the structure. To the left, a portion of the building extends into a decorative archway, mirroring the same block pattern. In the background, there are other buildings with colourful facades, including a vibrant purple and a dark grey one, and green trees. The sky is a bright blue with large, fluffy white clouds. The foreground shows a paved area with tram tracks running along the street. The image is a medium-distance shot of a contemporary, open-air structure. The main part of the structure features a large stage or platform with wooden steps leading up to it. The back wall of the stage is made of vertical wooden planks, heavily covered with graffiti, posters, and stickers. The left side of the building is made of the same decorative concrete blocks with square cut-outs as seen in a previous image, forming a large overhang. The ground in front of the stage is a mix of patchy grass and a pathway made of grooved wooden planks. In the background, there are other buildings with a mix of red and white facades. The sky is a bright blue with large, fluffy white clouds. The entire scene has a slightly unkempt, urban feel, suggesting it is a well-used public space.

Peng + #Peng in #Magdeburg #Salbke and where to find it. Including a very naughty sticker 🤨

A piece of street art on a white and light-green painted wall, featuring a stylised face with three eyes and a tear dropping from one. The mouth is depicted as an open, jagged shape, and below it, "PENG + PENG" is written in bold, somewhat crude black letters. Above the face, two small bird-like shapes are drawn. To the right of the main drawing, a bright blue, stylised frog or toad is spray-painted, appearing as if mid-leap with its limbs splayed. Lush green foliage with tendrils hangs from the upper left corner of the image, partially obscuring the wall.A wide-angle, slightly angled shot shows a section of a white and light-green painted building wall, with a grey metal utility box protruding from its lower half. The box is covered in black graffiti tags. On the side of the box, there is a small round sticker with the photo of an anus. Above it, on the white part of the wall, is a hand-drawn, cartoon-like face with three eyes, a tear, and the words "PENG + PENG" below it. To the right of this drawing, a bright blue, stylised frog is spray-painted. Lush green foliage with tendrils hangs from the upper left, partially obscuring the wall. The ground in the foreground is a paved surface with small stones.

My first glimpse of #Peng in #Magdeburg #Fermersleben 👀

(Peng is an anonymous graffiti artist from Frankfurt whose quirky minimalist designs and notes can be found in a few German cities ... I think?? Peng connoisseurs, please enlighten me! And shout-out to @MartinausF who made me realize that Peng is a phenomenon!)

A long, light-coloured wall has green graffiti sprayed across it. From left to right, there are two small, cartoonish figures giving each other a "high-five" with the text "HIGH-FIVE" above them. Next to this is the large green text "FUCK THE STAAT". On the far right, there are more illegible green graffiti tags. Above the wall are windows reflecting the sky and some trees. Below the wall is a strip of soil and then a paved area.
