@sknob @lminiero thank you for describing your journey to your new website 👍 It was fun to read 😃
What a performance boost, your work really paid off!
I've picked #PicoCSS as a lightweight frontend framework, so i didn't have to start from the ground up and still keep a small footprint. They have light/dark mode support. Maybe useful for the next incarnation of your website?
Are you looking for a lightweight CSS framework with #a11y and semantics in mind? Check out #picocss which brings you simple beautiful styling without adding tons of wrappers or utility classes to your markup.

🎉 Wow, a "framework" so minimal it practically does nothing! 👏 Just slap on Pico #CSS, and behold: your HTML tags are magically... styled? 🔮✨ With fewer than 10 classes, it's like CSS for those who fear commitment. 🤷♂️ But hey, at least it’s not another bloated CSS framework, right? 🐘💨

"our community grew 🧡, and with it, the responsibility to provide a reliable CSS reset that would prevent sadness when looking at our HTML DOM"
"And above all, why block page rendering with JavaScript for such a simple structure?"

#picocss love it

Here is the new #11ty website I made. I found writing a new website and template from scratch to be simple with #Picocss, and it does have quite a few features for being a simple site.
Hope there are some other folks out there who find this useful in starting their new #staticsite journey as well. It only took me about two years to finally make my own template with #eleventy. This was a fun little side project.
Incidentally it seems that PicoCSS (https://picocss.com) isn’t being actively maintained which seems a shame. It’s the best looking minimal #css framework that I’ve found! #picoCSS
Just discovered Pico CSS: A minimal CSS framework for semantic HTML
This lightweight starter kit prioritizes semantic syntax, making every HTML element responsive & elegant by default.
Great solution if you want to quickly create a good-looking POC without having to worry about CSS!

My default styling for little web projects is PicoCSS https://picocss.com
So I was delighted to find this demo of all the 'drop in' CSS libraries from dohliam:
https://dohliam.github.io/dropin-minimal-css/
Which I found from this post by Andraž Bajt
#PicoCSS Hello world!
<!doctype html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<meta name="color-scheme" content="light dark" />
<link rel="stylesheet" href="css/pico.min.css">
<title>Hello world!</title>
</head>
<body>
<main class="container">
<h1>Hello world!</h1>
</main>
</body>
</html>
For my work-in-progress #map project I want to use this library & framework:
