This morning I got to do the local bike shop group ride on a borrowed bike. A #Pinarello sales rep was on site and people could borrow bikes for the ride. I mixed up the product line names in my head, and I ended up on a Dogma X. A $15k bike. 🤣

I’m used to an aluminum entry level road bike ($2k in 2021), so a fancy carbon bike with DuraAce everything was a pleasure to ride.

I like staying married, so I’m definitely *not* buying one. #cycling

Needed to make a quick charging stop in Eastham because I forgot to charge to 100% before leaving for Provincetown, and the extra drag from the bike rack made the efficiency worse. Obviously the bike design is not optimized for the aerodynamic when it's sideways 😜

I could charge near Ptown long enough so I can make it home, but 1) Ptown's DC charger is a Tesla supercharger, as much as I don't want give money to Musk, it is also not 800V output, meaning the Taycan only takes around 140-150kw, which is not so much different from the 120kw I can get from this ChargePoint. 2) as I don't drive much, I need to take advantage of the Electrify America free charging when I have the opportunity.

So a quick 9 mins charge from 11% to 22% and we got on the way to the Electrify America in Hyannis. Arrived with 13% SoC and got the free juice to 85%.

A very easy, but quality, 3 hours in the saddle with Paul, out to #Wilmslow. We took it very slowly as he was getting used to his first ride on his new/my old #Boardman. He's only had it 9 months! Stopped at Scituate harbor for coffee and a muffin. The coffee shop doesn’t make espresso??? Only drip coffee 🥹

Btw I might have peed in the woods in Wompatuck State Park. The mosquitoes definitely smelt their meat I’d say. 🦟

Overall great ride. Left early in the morning at 7am when there wasn’t too much traffic. It was cloudy and misty, especially near the coast, but it was nice and cool. I’d take that 100% over the 90+ heat wave 😂. The route is relatively flat - 2000 feet ascend over 58 miles. So I did a lot of sprinting - sprint Saturday it is…

Mallorca is the cycling mecca and it lives up to its fame. The beach right out of the old town Palma…… the world famous hairpin climbs of Coll de Sóller…. And the view of the rustic coastline with quint Spanish villages in between…

I’m so happy I chose to do this on my vacation. Also grateful for the support from my partner that he could entertain himself while I was out cycling and enjoying what I loved to do.

Beautiful day for a ride.

Legs feel really good. Training in the winter paid off. Best 1 mins power output at 408 watt. Made a lot of PRs on the route that I’ve done so many times.

Ptown - PB ride

PB’s location is so perfect that it’s about 25 miles from Ptown on a bike ride with plenty of hills and amazing ocean views, and provides great energy supply for cyclists (aka coffee and delicious French pastry) so we can ride back to Ptown without bonking 🤣 Beaches are literally a few pedals away.

After a bit over 1000 ft ascending you’ll probably feel a bit tired and the fatigue in legs are getting you and boom a great French bakery is right in front of you. What more can you ask for? 😋

I’ve done this route so many times and still want to do it over and over again. Hardly any automobiles on the back roads in Truro and Wellfleet. And plenty of friendly attention on commercial st in Ptown 🤣

A gentle 70km this morning with my mate, Paul, who is recovering from the lurgy. His coughing and spluttering eased in the second half of the ride.
