Oooh, fancy. dune3d is a new open source 3d cad application that looks really promising.
I like the author's stated motivation, that's all the reasons that made me move to proprietary software (Plasticity 3D) for my enclosure designs.
Would love an open source 3d cad system that also tries to make working with it bearable or even enjoyable.
(I have to admit using Solvespace is fun, but no chamfers/fillets is a deal breaker)
#The100DayProject Day 87 (backdated)
Taking feedback from @shadesofgrease at heart about gendered toys I made this Bee like color vibe for the cat car. It's getting complicated, I know :D
Print is underway. I'll have it printed on day 89 probably.

Jason is happy with his car. Stage one is complete. I have several ideas on how to upgrade the model to make printing and assembly much easier. I've been wanting to make a small gift for Emily, Jason's three-year-old neighbour. So I gave the car a 'baby girl' makeover. What do you think?

The Cool Plate Supertack by BambuLab is awesome. These small 1 mm high letters and numbers sticks really well without a brim, and using a small knife come off brilliantly.
The 100 day project has been crossed by so many other plans! More on it later.

The best way for making primary surfaces in #Plasticity3D is the Square command from XNurbs. This allows control over the CVs of the patches and enables clean, straightforward modeling. However, it’s not indispensable you can still achieve excellent results even without! #CAD
#The100DayProject Day 55
I wrote a blog and several posts on socials about the finished chess set. The blog talks a bit about how I got into 3Dprinting, the tools I use and how I managed to optimize the quality of this print.

Updating #Plasticity3d has been convenient this year ; 1 US #Dollar is equivalent to 0.88 #Euro. #CAD 📉 💰 💳

#The100DayProject Day 54
The project goal is now "Finish all 3D projects you started and start selling them". I have so many projects running now.
I've completed the Classic French Chess Set, my first 3D printing project. The design is based on the French chess sets used and sold by the Café de la Régence in Paris in the 18th and 19th centuries. The set was modelled in Plasicity, the knight was modelled in Blender.

#The100DayProject Day 30
Printed the last version and found two things to improve. First the naked dome looks great but bland. So I've decided to add a zwaailicht to it. Secondly, trying to hide the seam on the dome by distributing layer start and ends randomly looked rather bad. So the seam will be at the back instead. I am printing all parts of the final prototype now. Hopefully I'll be able to assemble the first complete model tomorrow.
#The100DayProject Day 24-26
A few days of tinkering combined into one update. I've rebuilt the car with all my goals in mind. Wall thickness is 2mm for the whole body, dome and head and tail lights are 1mm. The top dome is now one complete part instead of two halves which makes printing it much more reliable. Test slicing in BambuLab looks promising.
Next step: test pinting second prototype and adding details.
#The100DayProject Day 23
A complete redesign based on the first prototype. I am used to solid modelling (3DStudioMax etc). This is fine for the concept stage. But for the lamp, the design of the interior and walls are crucial, because of the light shining through the material. I'm now working with sheets instead. The idea is to thicken the sheets to the right wall thickness when all contours are done.
