Also did some #CAD (cardboard aided design) work on the cutout for the mid pack disconnect. I’ll need the opening for removable bit, the location of the retaining bolts, but also the cutout where the fuse bulge is.

SubD are handy for modeling hulls, but trust me, nothing beats #SurfacePsycho when it comes to #CAD #hull modeling. Not even #Rhino3D or any other CAD software comes close to what Surface Psycho can do. #Nurbs #b3d #Blender3D #Blender #boat #design

as someone who identifies as more of a #hardware person I'm always a little crest fallen when i re encounter how much analysis and design is a #software domain problem. I should be thankful that I'm at least somewhat competent in that area but it is such a hurdle to overcome that I'd be happier using #cad or drilling a hole or hell even digging a hole

If anyone with some CFD/CAD experience was wanting to contribute to our open-source battery project at https://fbrc.dev, this would be a great way - the Forner-Cuenca group at TU/E released some software for modeling porous electrodes in flow batteries, if it could be adapted to our geometry, we could reduce pressure drop/improve flow uniformity, etc. Forum post with relevant links here: https://fbrc.nodebb.com/post/591

The first pattern was created in a vector graphics program (Affinity Designer). Adjusting margins, offsets turned out to be a pain in the neck.

Then I found out that FreeCAD, a parametric 3D modeling application, can export 2D views. I redid the same wallet design with all critical dimensions parameterized.

Producing wallets catering to different bill sizes is now as simple as adjusting one or two parameters.

Just had to google how to pan in a CAD software because it was none of the combinations below:

- right click + drag
- mouse wheel + drag
- spacebar + left click + drag
- left click + right click + drag

The correct combination to pan was CTRL + mouse wheel + drag. Can you guess which CAD this is? 🤣
