@colm @alyn @JulianOliver @postmarketOS #postmarketOS won't magically make providers support 3G again but it can definitely bring it back to life if you'd like to use it PDA-style (wifi only). Otherwise I can recommend #MaemoLeste, it even ships with the original UI!

My Touchpad Emulator project is now in the #AlpineLinux testing repository! My merge request got merged this morning and I was able to install it on my #postmarketOS edge devices! The package name is touchpad-emulator. It turns the touchscreen into a trackpad style mouse to make desktop UIs easier to use on a touch-only mobile device.

Trying to get a local #PostmarketOS build running on a "testing" device but not a lot of success today...

There's a working build from some random GitHub that boots to a usable #Phosh and almost everything working, but my local build only boots up to the simple framebuffer... How does one get the Adreno GPU to fully start?

I spent the day trying to figure out what the heck the device-tree is doing and managed to reproduce roughly the same as the working build, but I don't feel I managed anything on my local build, I'm probably missing a device driver but there are way too many options...

Using the Pocophone F1 has been the best mobile experience for me, both on Linux Mobile (My Daily Driver, #postmarketos & #NimaOS Mobile) & Android which I've tested a bit :D

today is another rendition of @tbernard 's wonderful #BoilingTheOcean hackathon in #Berlin ! (and i'm finally back in town at the same time it's happening)

there will be a lot of local-first peer to peer related work, systemd/mkosi topics, and hopefully some #postmarketOS stuff too

i'll be hacking on pmbootstrap unshare support (removing the need for root access to use pmb), and maybe looking into pmb/mkosi integration (building on the mkosi support for pmOS that @craftyguy has been working on the last few days)

perfect hackability for customisation and perfect (frugal) usage of resources. i use it for all my mobile computing needs:
- calls / sms
- mastodon (tut)
- simplex (-tui) and matrix (gomuks)
- email (aerc)
- calendar (calcurse)
- web (links -g, sometimes librewolf)
- ssh

i cut down the distraction and the addiction, and considerably reduced usage. #mobilelinux

Time to unlock another #OnePlus 6 bootloader and install #postmarketOS before swapping motherboards into my dead one. Huge shame that the busted screen has the least amount of OLED burn. Unfortunately my reflow attempts didn't last so glad to have a replacement board.

@sohrab On #postmarketOS there is a package mobile-config-firefox that makes firefox work beautifully, and for librewolf there is a mobile-config-firefox-librewolf package.

@cas It would be great to have more options for dev boards and #postmarketOS would be an excellent choice. I have a RK3588 based Indiedroid Nova that doesn't have good OS choices, the Debian build I have on it is old with no GPU driver.
