Ah - it wouldn’t be a workshop discussing the #Ethics of #AI without a reflection on how “the master’s tools will not dismantle the master’s house”, #DigitalColonialism and the fact that there are no good billionaires 💪

Discussions for us all to continue!

Every panel should have a #technopessimist (her words!) like Mariangela Mihai. We must continue to critically engage with the ways in which technology harms the most marginalised members of our society.

She shares the example of #whisper introducing racial hallucinations into medical notes: wired.com/story/hospitals-ai-t

Really wonderful observation from @rachelcoldicutt to advocate for better involvement of #CivilSociety in discussions about #DigitalStrategy, #OpenSource #Innovation and #AI.

We should be holding our #Labour government to higher standards for representation and co-creation with the people and for the people.

What do MPs need to be able to meaningfully engage in understanding #OpenSource #Innovation and #Regulation for #AI?

💥 Make clear that there are benefits and harms NOW! (Never mind the existential threats!)

❓Answer questions, bring example #UseCases, help them understand #OpenSource and #AI

🗳️ Show how these topics relate to their constituents. How do we bring broader societal understanding?

Really wonderful to have Onwurah highlight the potential of #OpenSource #Innovation (including AI) to enable workers across the UK to focus on the most human parts of their jobs (teachers focusing on engaging with children more) and also fostering #trust in #models and how we use #data.

I did a horrible job tooting this panel 🙈 It was very interesting though.

Themes of not allowing the #OpenSource community to be divided and conquered by big tech players over divisions in the initial definition of #OSIAI.

Also making sure that we positively communicate the value of #OpenSource.
