I wanted to like Bandcamp, but they are pretty much dead to me now after the owners screwed over the employees:
Best thing I found so far is #Rokk and their approach to funnel more subscription money to the artists.
Podjąłem decyzję i odchodzę od Spotify. Z myślą noszę się już dłuższy czas, ale klamka zapadła. Natomiast jeszcze nie jest pewne, dokąd pójdę. Mam trzech głównych kandydatów: Qobuz, Rokk oraz Deezer. Wszystkie dają artystom wyższe stawki, a jednocześnie mają zazwyczaj jakieś regulacje względem muzyki z genAI.
Qobuz miał być pierwszy, ale niestety na razie wstrzymuję się z przejściem, ponieważ... Nie mogę założyć konta. W aplikacji przenosi mnie na stronę błędu 403, a w przeglądarce na telefonie nie mogę dokończyć rejestracji, ponieważ formularz nie chce przejść dalej. UPS?
Dlatego od dziś testuję Rokk. Jest tu mniejsza biblioteka utworów, ale to co jest, skupia się głównie na roku i metalu, a to mnie i tak najbardziej interesuje. Podobno płacą więcej niż Spotify, a sam abonament też nie jest drogi.
Niestety na ten moment nie widzę przyszłości zaledwie po trzech godzinach. Po pierwsze, brakuje tu niezależnych artystów, których słuchałem i znalazłem w innych serwisach. Po drugie... Apka na androidzie jakoś dziwnie działa, a nie lubię korzystać na telefonie z web playera. Na szczęście aplikacja ma darmowy okres próbny.
Później jeszcze raz spróbuję rejestracji na Qobuz, z komputera stacjonarnego. Lecz jeśli się nie uda, to po latach przerwy chyba wrócę do Deezer. Nie jest to opcja idealna, Ale pamiętam że dobrze mi się z tego korzystało, aplikacja działała dobrze, a wciąż płacą więcej artystom, niż Spotify.
PS. W trakcie pisania dostałem informację od kolegi, że Qobuz nie jest oficjalnie dostępny w Polsce. Szkoda, ale może uda się jakoś mimo wszystko to uruchomić.

Mich interessiert dabei in erster Linie die Auswahl an (Deutsch)Punk und Ska (eher das alte Zeug).

Ach, waren das noch schöne Zeiten als wir unsere #Musik nicht als #Abo bezogen, also #gemietet haben sondern die Musik auf Datenträger #gekauft haben, nicht befürchten mussten dass der #Streaminganbieter ständig die #Preise erhöht und wir als Kirsche auf dem Eisbecher auch noch bessere #Audioqualität bekommen haben. Ich habe schonmal darüber nachgedacht ein Abo bei #Tidal oder #Rokk abzuschließen, aber letztendlich bin ich mit meinem aktuellen Setup so zufrieden dass ich mich dagegen entschieden habe.
Article in German, about the new indipendent music distribution alternatives. Imho, this is a "Rough Trade" moment, indy dist. might gather enough momentum to carve a viable niche. As a tool maker, live performer and sound designer, I do almost never make tracks suited for sharing, but I know a lot of people struggling bc. of the streaming industries effects.

I tested #rokk for a while, but it seems sort of stuck. It would be nice if it could be an actual alternative to Deezer or fascism-supporting Spotify - but they don't have scrobble support and the app/UI and playback is sluggish, the catalogue is not nearly on par with the competition. While I can't assess if the latter has developed over the last months, the former does not seem to. My e-mails asking for when the promised scrobble feature will come, or if there is anything like a public roadmap, go unanswered. The FAQ is unfinished.
Schade.
Trying to use #Rokk to listen to my favorite metal music is turning out to be quite the challenge. Playback stops after 1 song, songs are available then unavailable...
I really support their mission and want to live the service. Anyone have any tips?
wtf, habe eine Abbuchung von #Rokk auf dem Konto. Seit einem Monat steht mein Kontostatus dort auf "Cancellation Requested". 🙄
Allein deshalb muss ich wohl von der Verwendung von Rokk abraten.
#ROKK könnte nen Blick wert sein. Ist gerade erst gestartet und noch im Aufbau, aber funktioniert. Sitzt im Saarland. Einer der Grundgedanken ist Musikern mehr zu zahlen.

Eins der Ziele ist es Musikern mehr zu zahlen. Der Katalog ist noch nicht ganz so umfangreicht, dafür aber in Hifi. Die App funktioniert, ist aber vergleichsweise basic.

I thought they wanted to go online in 2024.
Does anyone know if #Rokk is an actual good thing? It's supposed to be a subscription based music streaming service primarily for Metal and Rock music. It ran a crowd funding campaign on #Indiegogo though which is a bit of a red flag in my view.
