My character drawer web application now has a little menu to remove a lot of clutter from the main UI.

It now also has an option to set an overlay image (it technically really is an overlay image even if it does not look like one).

This image is always resized from top left to cover the drawing area, so you might play around with the image’s aspect ratio and size.

A bit of overoptimizing caused some weird color glitches, but that is sorted out now, and it actually works. (and looks as expected on an actual terminal. The confetti was just some testing.

Import and export are also optimized, and there is a crude permalink function that causes thousands of characters long URLs but works up to a certain complexity.

… and all of this for such a niche πŸ™ƒ

Imagine, your weekend project for drawing character art for /etc/issue could not use ANSI codes for the faint text effect and could not set different foreground and background colors for the characters …

Well, mine can now πŸ™ƒ

Actual representation depends on where it’s shown, of course. And yes, it actually works …

It can now also export to and import from a shareable plaintext format.

While messing with some #code to write a simple small helper application that fetches the given monitor’s width and height using #GTK, I – accidentally – wrote perfectly valid and strict #C code that compiles without any errors using gcc -std=c18 ....
