In #RedAlert2 (or any RTS), I wish you didn't automatically lose as soon as your last structure is destroyed. It would be more interesting if loss was delayed until one of the following occurs:

1. The time passes for your median speed unit to cross the widest map dimension twice.
2. 90% of your remaining units (by cost) are destroyed.
3. You fail to destroy any opponent's structures or units worth more than the median cost of their remaining structures or units for 30 seconds.

I like watching #YouTube #streamers who play #VideoGames kinda wrong. Let's Game it Out, Dangerously Funny, Gray Still Plays, Real Civil Engineer, and Spiffing Brit are my go-tos. I think part of the appeal of watching streamers is the fantasy that "Hey, that could be me" (setting aside questions of time, talent, money, opportunity, and luck).

My idle fantasy about what my channel would be is that I'd be a variety streamer who dicked around with save files and config files in games to laugh at the outer limits of what the engine can handle. I spent more hours than I can count in high school modifying the rules_md.ini file in #CommandAndConquer #RedAlert2: Yuri's Revenge. I was only passable at playing the campaign and sucked competitively but watching a Kirov zip around a million miles per hour; tweaking promotions to 10× bonuses but 0.1× XP cost; and making the random starting units exclusively ones that were normally unavailable was my jam. I loved the weird stuff the enemy AI came up with to try to account for their decision systems sorta understanding what's going on but not really. It's probably how I fell in love with poking around in computer systems and fooling around with code.

The tools to futz with stuff today are infinitely better than they were back in the day and I've also earned a couple degrees in poking code (or rather, data) with a stick. Given how popular game modding is, I'm sure that there are other people who'd get a kick out of that.

If you know any channels that do that sort of thing, I'd love a recommendation but I'm mostly just sharing a story about myself.

is Mental Omega(Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge mod) worth playing in 2023?

because i am enjoying it... while the campaign take like weeks for ALL missions to complete!(it focuses on micromanaging and tactics, play smart even on casual difficulty in case. most missions can be tough as nails) the skirmish was fun asf!
